In the first case, "in width", there is a need to cover the unreached and "digitalize" those business processes which in the previous stages were not included in the plan of informatization. Scaling broadways allows one to develop the functionality of the information system, to build a clear electronic document management between the increasing number of structural units divisions, and ideally between all.
But if in this case the target can be achieved, then within the motion "in depth" it‘s unlikely: the development of the information system is built up in the direction of more complete detailing of business processes and improvement the functionality of IS, providing their information support. This process is endless.
We must not forget also that in addition to the planned development, there is also, to put it in medical terms, an emergency one. After all, life does not stand still – science evolves, legislation changes, technology improves, business processes hone. Thus, the technology of work modifies, transforms, compounds or simplifies. And all these phenomena require evolution of the information system - its updating, improvement and development.
